soundLabs / Plastic Beach

Plastic Beach is more than a percussion and dance performance group, or a film; it is a journey to reinvent the materials and objects often discarded in everyday life. Through the comedy and beauty embodied by musical movement, we create a platform which highlights humanity's use and abuse of the environment. Filmed on location in areas later hit by Hurricane Sandy, the film presents new ways of both seeing and hearing our world.

"It is magical; part Mummenschanz, part Blue Man Group, part Bread and Puppet theatre....Terrific environmental message even without the Sandy echoes. With them, truly chilling."  (Renée Loth, longtime fan and columnist for The Boston Globe)

"GREAT video!  Creative, fun and very well done."  (Fred Hersch, 5-time Grammy nominated pianist and composer)

Dedicated to places and perspectives changed by Hurricane Sandy.
